Coventry City Council is seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the West Team within Children's Services. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and established case-holding team, working directly with children and families to deliver effective safeguarding interventions and positive outcomes.
As a Social Worker within the West Team, you will manage a varied caseload and work with children and families requiring statutory support and intervention.
Key responsibilities:- Completing Child and Family Assessments
- Undertaking Child Protection Enquiries
- Working with Children in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children
- Supporting families through the Public Law Outline (PLO) process
- Initiating care proceedings where required
- Developing effective support and intervention plans
- Delivering direct work with children and families
- Assessing and managing risk to ensure children's safety and wellbeing
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
- Preparing court reports and providing instructions to Legal Services when necessary
- Social Work England registration
- A recognised Social Work qualification
- Experience of Child Protection, Children in Need and Looked After Children work
- Experience completing Child and Family Assessments
- Knowledge of the Public Law Outline (PLO) process and court work
- Strong safeguarding and risk assessment skills
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to team practice
- Excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills
- A thorough understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and social work practice standards
- Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks and legal processes relating to children's social care
- Experience of multi-agency working and partnership engagement
- The ability to manage complex cases and make sound professional judgments
- Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice
- Strong recording and case management skills, ensuring compliance with data protection and information governance requirements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records
- Contribute to meetings, reports and reviews both verbally and in writing
- Participate in supervision, training and development opportunities
- Support service improvement and contribute positively to team objectives
