Contract: Temporary Ongoing Contract
Working hours: 37 hours per week, Additional 45 minutes overtime per day for vehicle checks, Monday or Tuesday through to Friday, depending on rota, 4 or 5 working days per week, Multiple shift patterns available, Earliest start times can be 6:00am or 7:00am, depending on weather conditions.

Opus People Solutions are currently recruiting for 7 HGV Class 2 Drivers to join Coventry City Council's Environmental Services team on an ongoing temporary basis at Whitley Depot. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Class 2 drivers seeking regular work with competitive pay rates and overtime opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate HGV Class 2 vehicles safely and effectively across Coventry and surrounding areas.
- Carry out vehicle checks, inspections and defect reporting.
- Ensure compliance with driver hours regulations and health and safety standards.
- Work closely with supervisors and operational teams to complete daily tasks.
- Maintain excellent customer service standards when interacting with residents and stakeholders.
- Support waste collection, recycling, highway maintenance and other environmental services operations.
Essential Requirements
- Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- No more than six penalty points on your licence.
- Good professional driving record.
- Ability to work safely, meet deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
- Understanding of road transport legislation and health and safety requirements.
- PPE provided by Coventry City Council (workers must provide their own safety boots).
