We are seeking an experienced Interim Insurance Manager to join a busy Local Government organisation on an initial 4 month contract, with the potential for extension. This is primarily a hybrid/remote role, although the successful candidate will be required to attend the office initially to collect IT equipment and attend occasional meetings as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the organisation's insurance function within a fast paced environment.
- Provide managerial and supervisory oversight to the insurance team.
- Support procurement and insurance related activities, ensuring compliance with Local Government regulations.
- Participate in the evaluation of insurance tenders and procurement exercises.
- Manage insurance placements and renewals, working closely with brokers and insurers.
- Deliver excellent customer service to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Provide strategic insurance advice and support across the organisation.
About You
- Strong insurance management experience, ideally gained within Local Government, Public Sector, or organisations dealing with public authority risks.
- Experience of insurance procurement and tender evaluation processes.
- Proven managerial and supervisory experience.
- Strong underwriting knowledge, particularly around insurance placements, programme design, and procurement activities rather than claims management.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast paced environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and customer service skills.
Desirable
- Experience within Local Authority insurance functions.
- Candidates from the private sector will also be considered, provided they have broad insurance expertise and a strong understanding of public sector or public authority insurance risks.
