Contract: 6-12 months

Rate: £300 per day (Umbrella)

The Opportunity

We are currently partnering with a high profile public sector organisation to recruit an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of key highways and transport programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team working on essential capital maintenance projects, contributing to the upkeep and improvement of critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver low to medium complexity highway maintenance projects from initiation through to completion
  • Manage the full project lifecycle, ensuring delivery to time, budget, and quality standards
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and design teams
  • Attend site visits and monitor project progress
  • Ensure compliance with relevant highway and public sector standards

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role within Highways & Transport, ideally in a public sector setting
  • Proven track record delivering capital maintenance projects
  • Strong understanding of the project lifecycle for highway maintenance schemes
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in both project management and design within highway maintenance delivery
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement and governance processes
  • Relevant project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM)

Hybrid working model: Office based: Tuesdays & Fridays (New Shire Hall, Alconbury); Remote: Remainder of the week
