About the Role
Opus is looking for an experienced data operations manager to lead the transformation of our fund and portfolio accounting Inputs function. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll be accountable for the quality, timeliness, and control of data flowing into our accounting platforms, while simultaneously driving automation, process improvement, and a cultural shift from reactive processing to proactive insight. You’ll sit at the intersection of fund accounting, portfolio accounting, technology, and client delivery — a central position with direct exposure to senior leadership and meaningful scope to shape how we operate.
Key Responsibilities
- Service Delivery & Control
- Own day-to-day data input and processing activities supporting fund and portfolio accounting
- Ensure accurate, timely, and complete data delivery in line with defined service standards
- Monitor data flows, exceptions, and processing risks, resolving issues proactively
- Escalate material issues with clear impact assessment and recommended actions
- Maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders on risks and service performance
- Automation & Process Transformation
- Drive workflow redesign to reduce manual touchpoints and increase straight-through processing
- Implement and scale automation including RPA, email ingestion, and SFTP-based processes
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual intervention and improve processing speed
- Support system implementations and workflow enhancements aligned to the future‑state operating model
- Data Quality, Controls & Governance
- Establish and maintain robust data validation, control, and audit frameworks
- Ensure clear data ownership, lineage, and accountability across all input processes
- Implement pre‑validation and preventative controls to improve NAV accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit support for all data processes and controls
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, develop, and manage a high‑performing team with a strong service and accountability culture
- Build team capability in data literacy, technical tools, and financial services understanding
- Represent the function in governance forums, project initiatives, and stakeholder discussions
- Provide regular reporting on service performance, data quality, and transformation progress
Key Qualifications / Competencies
- Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of financial data including trades, pricing, corporate actions, and reference data
- Knowledge of fund accounting processes, NAV production, and the trade lifecycle
- 7 + years' experience in data operations, transformation initiatives, or process optimisation
- Working knowledge of data architecture, automation tools, and workflow systems
- Strong control mindset with experience in risk management, validation, and exception handling
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive operational and cultural change
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment
