As one of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers supplying to the commercial sector, my client manufactures fine chemicals and rubber accelerators and has a history spanning over 150 years. With their headquarters in the West Midlands, they are true pioneers within the chemicals industry. With strategic expansion plans, an opportunity has arisen for a Research & Development Chemist to join them and take ownership of carrying out research and development on a range of innovative projects.
Working closely with the Process Research Manager, the key responsibilities for your new role as Senior Research & Development Chemist are as follows:
- Carrying out research and development on projects using the resources available in the department and producing associated reports and paperwork.
- Making full use of the library for process development, process improvement and problem solving.
- Producing full documentation for projects to assist with smooth technology transfer.
- Operating existing analytical methods and interpreting results.
- Developing new methods in conjunction with the Senior Research Analyst.
- Developing processes for safe and efficient large-scale manufacturing.
- Assisting with the execution of various assessments to comply with regulations.
- Being involved in the design of experimental laboratory work to be relevant to large scale and full scale manufacture.
- Assisting with the generation of process instructions to GtvIP standards for projects operated in the pilot plant.
- Working with the Senior Research Analyst to develop analytical methods using spectroscopic, chromatographic or any other analytical technique, to monitor progress of chemical reactions and/or analyse final products.
My client is keen to find someone with a BSc in Chemistry, as a minimum, and strong experience developed within the chemical manufacturing industry. Regardless of previous expertise, you will possess good communication skills and be a team player, by nature.
In return, my client is offering a salary of £32,000 - £35,000, for a 36.25 hour week. An excellent benefits package is also on offer, which includes 25 days holiday per year (+ Bank holidays), life assurance, pension scheme, medical cash benefit plan and a generous company sick scheme.
