Here at Optum UK we’re looking for a Commercial Finance Manager to join our Commercial Finance team on a permanent basis. Reporting to our Commercial Finance Director, you will be a key member of the commercial finance team working closely with our sales, commercial and operational teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a varied commercial finance role, we will look to you to support in the production of various commercial and investment appraisals as well as supporting in monthly investment case forecasting and reporting. As a Commercial Finance Manager, you will provide financial and commercial support on bids & tenders, contracts and pricing for our framework related contracts.
This role is split between working in our Leeds office (LS19) one day a week and the rest from home.
What you’ll do
- This is a dynamic end-to-end commercial finance role where you will be responsible for producing various commercial appraisals (including but not limited to product investment, divestment and new business opportunities) as well as providing proactive finance support to our operations, commercial and sales teams through our bids & tenders, contracting and pricing processes.
- The role will also support other corporate projects as and when required as well as providing support to the rest of the finance team in supporting with non-BAU requests that arise during busy periods such as month end.
- You will engage and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including provision of revenue/profitability analysis, sensitivity analysis and identification of financial risks and opportunities to help drive positive outcomes in these areas.
- Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include; Contract and Framework Reviews, understand and comment on the contract financial terms, including risks around for example invoicing, payment, liabilities & penalties.
- Support on ad-hoc corporate projects.
- Preparing insightful reporting and analysis to support management decision making.
- Financial Modelling and scenario testing for new business opportunities or new products, including ROI, DCF and other financial measures.
Who You’ll Be:
You will be an experienced finance professional who is either a qualified accountant or part qualified at the later stages. With previous commercial finance experience or a commercial mindset, you will have an inquisitive nature when reviewing data or contracts. Collaboration and building trusted relationships within Optum is key, you will have exposure to partnering with non-financial colleagues whilst providing forecasting or detailed financial modelling reports. We are fast paced, so the ability to work with competing demands and in a changing environment is key.

- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture where appropriate.
- Commercial finance experience with knowledge of pricing strategies and contracting.
- Experience of performing commercial appraisals.
- Experience of working closely with non-finance stakeholders.
- Excellent Excel skills including experience of complex modelling.
- Great communication skills at all levels.
- Qualified accountant (ACMA/ACA/ACCA) or part qualified (later stages).
