Here at Optum, we are excited to share that we are currently recruiting for a Clinical Safety Officer to join our collaborative Clinical team on a permanent basis.
Patient safety is our number one priority, and as one of our Clinical Safety Officers you will be a fundamental part of Optum UK ensuring that we implement and maintain clinical safety standards and processes across the business.
Working remotely, you will be joining an established team of Clinical Safety Officers from varied clinical backgrounds, reporting into our Head of Clinical Safety. Our Clinical Safety Team work remotely and meet face to face, monthly at one of our office sites.

What you’ll do:
As a Clinical Safety Officer, you will work across our health technology portfolio maintaining the safety of our clinical systems. You will manage clinical safety related risks and ensure regulatory requirements are met through the production of documentation to meet the DCB0129 standards to ensure the delivery of safe clinical products.
We’re looking for collaborators to work alongside a variety of business areas, ensuring new and existing software is clinically safe as well as playing a part in the safe design of new IT products, in addition to planning for software releases and quickly reacting to new incidents as they arise.
Who you’ll be
We need you to be a registered clinician (for example, a nurse, pharmacist, physiotherapist or other allied health professional) and have a current registration with a professional UK governing body. You will be a strong self-starter, with the ability to create relationships with the wider organisation stakeholders quickly. In addition, you will need to have the ability to learn at pace.
Professional skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;
- Ideally a background or experience in clinical risk management / clinical governance & standards, with the ability to apply that knowledge to any healthcare setting.
- Knowledge / experience of different care settings
- Excellent IT and report writing skills.
- Confident in being able to make decisions and justify the rationale for your decision.
- Knowledge of Clinical Safety in Health IT.
- Understanding of medical devices and the clinical safety regulations associated is desirable.
