Here at Optum, we have a fantastic opportunity for a UX Author to join our highly capable and talented Product Experience & Design function on a rate contract inside IR35 until the end of December 2025.

This is an exciting time to join us as a business as we continue to grow. We are looking for a UX Author to create content for our Health Analytics and Research & Life Sciences technology products to enable customers to navigate them.

Please note this is an inside IR35 day rate contract until the end of December 2025 and whilst this is a UK remote working role, there may be requirements to travel to office sites.

What you’ll do:

As a UX Author, you will be responsible for creating user interface content to help customers understand how to use and interact with Optum software products. You\’ll work on concepts within our products and translate these journeys into clear and concise content.

We’re looking for collaborators, who will work closely with Product Designers, Researchers and Engineers to understand the user needs and shape the context of the copy you\’re creating. We would look to you as UX Author to create content that considers accessibility requirements to ensure copy is inclusive to all of our users.

This is a fantastic opportunity to create engaging and accurate copy for a variety of technology products that support the NHS and other medical organisations daily. You will enjoy the support of the wider product design team and be provided with a writing style guide.

Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

  • Be an advocate for the user experience impact of UX copy.
  • Maintain writing and style guidelines for the products’ UX and establish the best practices to follow.

Who you’ll be

As a UX Author, we need you to have experience in writing content or an understanding of user experience. You will have a passion for innovation and focusing your copy on user centric design principles.

You will be inquisitive, understanding the needs of our customers and internal stakeholders through collaboration. Having worked in a fast-paced environment previously, you will have a proven record of being able to digest complex information into accessible and clear content.

Collaboration is essential; you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of engaging with cross-functional teams to provide guidance and deliver excellent content.

Technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;

  • Previous experience working on information architecture and user experience design projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare domain would be advantageous but not essential to your success.
