Duties:

  • Collaborate closely with the parent company's R&D team in China to understand existing optical products and use this knowledge to develop new designs and systems in the UK.
  • Conduct advanced research on optics and optoelectronics technologies, including experiments and prototyping, to drive innovation.
  • Develop complex algorithms and participate in programming tasks, including optical system control and signal processing.
  • Act as a liaison between the UK and parent company teams, ensuring effective cross-border communication and alignment on technical goals.
  • Evaluate system performance and reliability, preparing detailed technical reports to support UK patent applications for new products.
  • Document technical specifications and system designs, integrating inputs from international teams to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Share global expertise with the local team to foster knowledge transfer and team development.

Skill, experience and qualification required:

  • Master's degree or higher in Optics, Optoelectronics, Physics, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in optical design tools such as ZEMAX or other relevant simulation software.
  • Experience with programming languages relevant to optical engineering (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++) preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with optical systems or experimental setups is advantageous.
  • Fluent in both English and Chinese, with excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with global teams.
  • Experience working with Chinese teams and familiarity with cross-cultural communication.
  • Willingness to travel and adapt to international travel requirements.
