What you'll do

  • Data Ownership
    • Ownership & coordination of the full lifecycle of market data: sourcing, delivery, normalization, storage, and consumption.
    • Maintain a clear understanding of how market data feeds into trading systems, research platforms, and downstream processes.
    • Investigate data issues across vendors, feeds, internal pipelines, and consuming systems.
    • Act as the point of escalation for market data problems that impact trading or research.
  • Trading & Development Support
    • Work directly with traders and developers to understand how data is used, not just what data is requested.
    • Translate trading requirements into concrete market data solutions.
    • Push back on data requests when latency, quality, licensing, or cost does not align with the actual use case.
    • Help teams understand data limitations, edge cases, and failure scenarios.
    • Manage exchange and vendor relationships with a strong grasp of commercial terms and permitted use.
    • Interpret licensing rules in the context of real trading system usage.
    • Ensure data is compliant without slowing down the business unnecessarily.
  • Governance
    • Manage entitlements, audits, and internal controls for market data usage.
    • Ensure critical data dependencies are understood and documented.
    • Reduce operational and trading risk related to market data failures.
    • Explain technical data issues clearly to non‐technical stakeholders.

Who you are

  • 3+ years of experience in Market Data, Trading Technology, Data Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Direct experience working with exchange data and market data vendors.
  • Strong understanding of how market data is used in automated trading and research systems.
  • Strong understanding of different data types & nuances in data quality.
  • Comfortable working with engineers and discussing system behavior and data flows.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Python for analysis, validation, or automation.
