Role Overview
We are an established independent Optical practice in Battersea and we’re looking for a passionate, customer focused individual to join our team contributing to our clinical and retail friendly practice.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent service.
- Assist customers in selecting suitable frames, lenses, and other optical products.
- Schedule appointments and manage bookings, establishing eligibility for NHS services and explaining charges.
- Perform pre‑screening eye health checks with training.
- Ensure a smooth and friendly handover to the Optometrist.
- Assist with the collection of spectacles and sensibly check patient data.
- Fit spectacles with appropriate training, repairing and adjusting spectacles.
- Collect contact lenses and teach using training.
- Maintain product displays and keep the store tidy, cleaning frames, frame rods regularly, hoovering end of day.
- Handle administrative tasks, including processing payments and orders.
- Work well in a team and independently.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in optical retail would be an advantage but not necessary.
- Calm, polite and professional mannerism ensuring every customer has a great experience.
- Timely and organised.
- Professional smart office dress code (no jeans, trainers, casual wear, mini skirt or mini dresses). Non‑smoker.
Working Hours
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10am‑5:30pm
Saturday: 9:30am‑5pm
10 minute tea break in the morning and 30 minute lunch break
(Mobile phone use only during personal break times)
Closed on Wednesday and Sunday
Holidays: 28 days per annum – includes Bank holidays and Christmas week closure.
Benefits
Full internal training and support will be provided leading to a full‑time permanent contract, if successful, on review after a 2 months probation period.
We can consider mature candidates, 2x part‑time staff or one full‑time staff. The position does require regular Saturday work—please consider this before applying as we are a retail store with set opening/closing times.
