For over 30 years, Options has been supporting people with disabilities across Merseyside to live independently, access their local communities and feel in control of their own lives. Our hardworking teams are committed to making a better world for people with disabilities.
We are looking for kind, motivated people to join us as Support Workers – no experience needed, just a passion for making a difference in your community.
Your Role
We support people who have autism, learning disabilities and acquired brain injuries. Support looks different from person to person and therefore so does every Support Worker role, with different working patterns and day to day tasks depending on who you are supporting. However, there are some core aspects and values of being a Support Worker at Options; you will:
- Support and encourage people to take part in the things that they enjoy.
- Support people in the day-to-day tasks involved in ordinary living, such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, attending appointments or managing finances.
- Enable people to achieve their full potential and support them to fulfil their wishes, expressed day-by-day and identified in their Person Centred Plans and other Key Documents.
- Understand and respect the relationships which are important to people supported.
- Promote independence and empower those you support to do things independently.
- Empower people you support to reach their aspirations and goals beyond the day to day.
- Provide personal care as required (e.g., communicating prompts or reminders, physical support with hygienic needs, use of hoists, pushing wheelchairs, or supporting long walks).
- Maintain records and effective communication with members of your team to ensure we are collaboratively providing the best support.
- Support people to use public transport or drive their mobility adapted vehicles for them to access their local communities.
- Have a full UK driving licence and be willing to drive at work – applicants without a full UK licence will not be considered at this time.
