We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial Oil Engineer with OFTEC Qualification to join a growing and reputable engineering team based in Yeovil. This role is predominantly focused on oil-fired heating systems, with occasional work on dual-fuel or gas-assisted systems where required.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who specialises in oil boilers, burners, and associated commercial heating plant, and is confident working independently across a variety of sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service, maintain, fault find, and commission domestic and light commercial oil-fired boilers and burners.
  • Carry out detailed diagnostics on oil systems, identifying burner faults, combustion issues, and installation defects.
  • Undertake breakdown response work, restoring systems safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all oil-fired installations comply with UK Building Regulations, OFTEC standards, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Carry out combustion analysis and efficiency testing on oil systems.
  • Complete safe isolation procedures, including electrical and fuel isolation where required.
  • Inspect and maintain oil storage, supply systems, and associated pipework.
  • Produce accurate service reports, commissioning documentation, and compliance certification.
  • Deliver a professional and customer-focused service on all client sites.
Essential Requirements
  • Strong OFTEC registration, ideally including: OFT10-101 (Pressure Jet Servicing & Commissioning).
  • Additional OFTEC qualifications such as: OFT10-105E (Installation), OFT10-600a (Oil Storage & Supply) (desirable).
  • Proven hands-on experience working primarily with oil-fired heating systems in domestic and light commercial environments.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability on oil burners and plant equipment.
  • Good understanding of combustion principles and efficiency testing.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable (Not Essential)
  • Gas Safe qualifications (CCN1 / COCN1 or equivalent) advantageous but not required.
  • Experience working across mixed fuel or commercial plant environments.
  • Background in maintenance of packaged plant rooms or commercial boiler houses.
