Shift Pattern: Continental Days Only 6:00am - 6:00pm

The Role

We are currently recruiting for a Data Centre Shift Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical Bias) to join a prestigious client directly at their critical data centre facility in Woking. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced building services engineer seeking a career within a mission-critical environment. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for maintaining the site's critical infrastructure and ensuring maximum uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across critical building services systems.
  • Monitoring and maintaining plant equipment to ensure operational reliability and efficiency.
  • Supporting the continuous operation of critical infrastructure within the data centre environment.
  • Completing all maintenance documentation, logbooks, permits to work, and compliance records.
  • Responding to equipment faults and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Working closely with the engineering team to maintain industry-leading uptime standards.
  • Supporting subcontractors and specialist service providers on site.

Requirements

  • Mechanical or Electrical Qualifications (Level 3 Preferred): NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent; or City & Guilds Level 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • For Electrical Bias Engineers: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential) Testing & Inspection (2391) advantageous.

Ideal Candidate

  • Mechanical or Electrical bias with experience in commercial building services maintenance.
  • Previous experience working in critical environments such as data centres, hospitals, banking, pharmaceutical, or other high-availability sites is advantageous.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good understanding of health & safety and permit-to-work systems.
  • Professional, client-facing approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Comfortable working a continental days-only shift pattern.
