Assistant Technical Services Manager (Mechanical) Location: West Bromwich Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum Hours: 37.5 hours per week Contract: Healthcare On Call: Case-by-case basis DBS: Basic DBS required Driving Licence: Required About the Role We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading Facilities Management company for three Assistant Technical Services Managers (Mechanical) to work on a healthcare contract in West Bromwich. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanical or facilities professional looking to take the next step in their career, or for an experienced engineer with strong technical knowledge who is ready to move into an assistant management position. The role is focused on experience, technical knowledge and practical ability, rather than specific qualifications. The successful candidates will need a strong understanding of mechanical building services and maintenance, together with the ability to support the management and delivery of technical services within a healthcare environment. A full UK driving licence is required due to the on-call requirements of the position. Key Responsibilities Support the Technical Services Manager with the day-to-day management of mechanical services Assist with the delivery of planned preventative and reactive maintenance Provide technical support and guidance on mechanical building services Assist with managing engineers, contractors and subcontractors Monitor the quality and progress of maintenance works Ensure works are completed within agreed timescales and service levels Assist with identifying mechanical faults and coordinating remedial works Oversee and support mechanical maintenance activities across the healthcare contract Assist with managing maintenance programmes and planned works Liaise with clients, contractors and site teams to resolve technical issues Monitor contractor performance and ensure required standards are maintained Assist with reactive and emergency maintenance requirements Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation Support compliance with health and safety requirements Assist with continuous improvement across the technical services function Provide technical advice and recommendations where required Participate in on-call requirements on a case-by-case basis About You The successful candidates will have experience within mechanical maintenance, building services or facilities management, with a strong understanding of commercial mechanical systems. Healthcare or critical-environment experience would be advantageous, although strong mechanical facilities management experience will also be considered. You should have: Strong mechanical building services knowledge Experience within commercial or facilities management environments Experience with planned and reactive maintenance Good technical fault-finding and problem-solving skills Experience working with contractors and subcontractors Ability to support the management of engineers and technical services Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Good understanding of health and safety requirements Flexible approach to supporting on-call requirements Full UK driving licence Qualifications There are no specific qualifications required for this position.
