The Role
The Mechanical Project Manager will take ownership of mechanical packages across a range of complex, regulated projects. You will manage delivery from early design coordination through procurement, installation, commissioning, validation support, and final handover. Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery
- Lead mechanical project delivery across cleanrooms, laboratories, containment suites, and specialist manufacturing spaces.
- Manage full lifecycle activities: design coordination, procurement, installation, commissioning, and validation support.
- Ensure mechanical systems meet strict performance criteria including airflow, pressure regimes, temperature, humidity, and contamination control.
- Conduct regular site inspections and proactively resolve technical issues.
- Technical & Compliance Oversight
- Work closely with design engineers to ensure mechanical solutions meet regulatory, client, and performance specifications.
- Support validation teams with documentation, testing readiness, and compliance requirements.
- Maintain rigorous quality‑control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Commercial & Financial Management
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
- Oversee procurement of specialist equipment, materials, and subcontractor packages.
- Manage variations, valuations, and final accounts with accuracy and transparency.
- Stakeholder & Team Coordination
- Lead mechanical engineers, specialist subcontractors, and site teams.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and internal project leads.
- Represent at progress meetings, technical reviews, and client presentations.
Candidate Profile
- Essential
- Proven experience delivering mechanical building‑services projects, ideally within cleanrooms, laboratories, pharmaceuticals, or other regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, air handling, ductwork, chilled water, heating, and specialist mechanical systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client‑facing skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Desirable
- Experience in high‑tech or controlled‑environment sectors (life sciences, semiconductors, medical devices, quantum technologies).
