The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Shift Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical bias) to join a well-established and highly reputable FM provider, working on a prestigious data centre in Welwyn Garden City. This is an excellent opportunity for a Level 3 qualified engineer looking for long-term stability, strong earning potential, and career progression within a company that actively promotes from within.
Key Responsibilities
- Working as part of a dedicated on-site engineering team
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive maintenance
- Managing PPM schedules, logbooks, and statutory compliance
- Ensuring critical systems are maintained to a high standard in a data centre environment
- PPM tasks to include (but not limited to):
- Emergency lighting
- Fire alarm systems
- General lighting
- AHUs & FCUs
- Plant room inspections
- Associated building services equipment
Requirements
- Mechanical or Electrical qualifications (Level 3 essential):
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Installations, Mechanical Engineering, or Plumbing OR
- City & Guilds Level 2/3 in Electrical Installations, Mechanical Engineering, or Plumbing
- 18th Edition (essential)
- 2391 Testing & Inspection (desirable)
Ideal Candidate
- Mechanical or Electrical bias with a strong building services background
- Comfortable working in a critical environment (data centre experience advantageous)
- Client-facing and professional in approach
- Well-organised with strong compliance awareness
- Experience on healthcare or critical-site contracts is beneficial but not essential
