Options Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of a leading building services contractor seeking an ambitious and technically strong Senior Project Engineer (M&E) to join their expanding team. The Role
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of M&E projects from initial concept through to completion. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, manage client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders, you will help drive engineering excellence while contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of medium-sized projects while supporting the delivery of larger and more complex developments.
- Lead project engineering activities from design development through to construction and handover.
- Provide technical guidance, support, and mentoring to engineers and project teams.
- Support the professional development and technical growth of junior team members.
- Undertake engineering calculations, testing, analysis, and validation activities.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, technical submissions, and design documentation.
- Lead feasibility studies, design development, value engineering exercises, budgeting, and technical solution development.
- Produce and coordinate detailed mechanical, electrical, and associated building services designs.
- Act as the technical lead on projects, ensuring engineering quality and compliance standards are maintained throughout.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development opportunities.
- Review BIM models and design coordination outputs to ensure accurate and practical project delivery.
- Assist with project costing, procurement activities, tender documentation, contractor evaluations, and contract administration.
- Ensure design information, quantities, and project data are accurately coordinated and verified.
- Support site teams to ensure installations are delivered in accordance with approved designs and project specifications.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building standards, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor project delivery against programme, budget, and performance objectives.
- Maintain project documentation and quality records in accordance with company procedures and management systems.
- Support project completion, certification, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Undertake additional duties as required to support project and business objectives.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer position.
- Strong understanding of M&E design, coordination, and project delivery.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, healthcare, infrastructure, data centre, or mission-critical projects.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project priorities.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
- Commercial awareness and experience supporting project budgets and procurement processes.
Desirable
- Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation.
- Experience with BIM, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Knowledge of contract administration and tendering processes.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Exposure to data centre or mission-critical environments.
