The opportunity
As a Senior or Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of electrical design across projects, working alongside experienced mechanical, structural, sustainability and specialist engineering teams. Your responsibilities could include:
- Electrical design across RIBA Stages 1–7
- LV distribution and power systems
- Electrical load assessments and calculations
- Lighting and emergency lighting
- Small power and specialist power
- Containment and cable management
- Earthing and bonding
- Standby generation and resilience
- Specialist laboratory electrical systems
- Design specifications and technical reports
- Multidisciplinary coordination
- Client meetings and presentations
- Design reviews and technical assurance
- Supporting project delivery through construction
At Principal level, you'll also have the opportunity to influence project strategy, provide technical leadership, develop client relationships and support the growth of the wider electrical team.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced electrical building services engineer with a strong technical background and ideally experience within:
- Laboratories
- Life Sciences
- Pharmaceutical
- Healthcare
- Research
- Education
- Advanced Manufacturing
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong electrical building services design experience
- Experience working on technically complex projects
- Laboratory or science-sector experience
- Good understanding of UK electrical standards and regulations
- Experience across multiple RIBA stages
- Ability to lead projects and coordinate design teams
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Experience mentoring engineers
- Relevant engineering qualification
- CEng / MCIBSE or working towards chartership would be advantageous.
