Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead the delivery of complex MEP projects within a growing engineering and infrastructure business. This is a senior leadership position responsible for managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing project delivery, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring the successful execution of projects from concept through to completion.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, commercial awareness, leadership capability, and proven experience delivering large-scale commercial, public sector, or mission-critical developments.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Professional Qualifications

  • Membership of, or eligibility for, registration with a recognised professional engineering institution (such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)).
  • Additional qualifications or specialist training relating to Data Centre infrastructure, mission-critical facilities, or building services engineering would be advantageous.

Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in engineering, construction, or project delivery environments.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience within construction site operations, engineering design, or project management.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering large-scale commercial, industrial, public sector, or mission-critical projects.
  • Strong project and programme management capability.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience managing client relationships and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

  • Experience working on Data Centre, mission-critical, or highly serviced buildings projects.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and BIM coordination processes.
  • Experience in tendering, procurement, cost management, and contract administration.

Key Responsibilities

The Construction Manager will be responsible for leading engineering teams and overseeing the successful delivery of multiple projects while ensuring quality, safety, programme, and commercial objectives are achieved. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing large-scale projects or multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Leading project delivery from feasibility and concept stages through to completion and handover.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships while supporting business development activities.
  • Undertaking strategic project planning, including feasibility studies, design optioneering, engineering analysis and modelling, budget planning and cost management, space planning and technical solution development.
  • Supporting the development of design standards, technical specifications, engineering procedures, and project delivery frameworks.
  • Reviewing BIM and design coordination outputs to ensure constructability, quality, and compliance.
  • Managing project cost control, procurement activities, tender evaluations, contract awards, and contract administration processes.
  • Providing technical leadership across mechanical, electrical, and associated building services disciplines.
  • Reviewing engineering calculations, technical submissions, reports, and design documentation.
  • Ensuring the quality and accuracy of design information produced by engineering and design teams.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and developing engineers to enhance technical and professional capabilities.
  • Delivering training and technical guidance to project and design personnel.
  • Supporting site delivery teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Monitoring project risks and implementing mitigation strategies where required.
  • Undertaking additional duties appropriate to the role as required by senior management.
