Job Description

Mechanical Engineer\\n\\nRole Purpose\\n\\nThe Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of mechanical building services across a complex, multi-building estate. The role focuses on ensuring mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory, contractual, and sustainability requirements.\\n\\nKey Responsibilities\\n\\nSupport the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of mechanical systems including HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, and associated plant\\n\\nProvide technical input into planned and reactive maintenance activities\\n\\nReview mechanical designs, specifications, and technical submissions for compliance with standards and client requirements\\n\\nAssist with the delivery of mechanical projects, upgrades, and lifecycle replacement works\\n\\nMonitor system performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and carbon reduction\\n\\nEnsure all mechanical works comply with relevant legislation, health & safety standards, and industry best practice\\n\\nLiaise with internal teams, specialist subcontractors, and stakeholders to coordinate works and resolve technical issues\\n\\nSupport fault finding, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for mechanical plant failures\\n\\nMaintain accurate technical documentation, reports, and asset records\\n\\nQualifications & Experience\\n\\nEssential:\\n\\nDegree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering\\n\\nExperience working with mechanical building services in a complex estate (e.g. healthcare, education, commercial, or research environments)\\n\\nSound knowledge of HVAC systems, plant rooms, and mechanical infrastructure\\n\\nFamiliarity with relevant standards and legislation (e.g.

H&S, pressure systems, water hygiene)\\n\\nDesirable:\\n\\nWorking towards or holding professional registration (e.g. IEng or CEng)\\n\\nExperience in energy management or sustainability-focused projects\\n\\nKnowledge of CAFM systems and asset management practices\\n\\nSkills & Competencies\\n\\nStrong technical and problem-solving skills\\n\\nAbility to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams\\n\\nClear communication skills, both written and verbal\\n\\nOrganised and methodical approach to managing tasks and priorities\\n\\nProactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement\\n\\nHealth, Safety & Compliance\\n\\nCommitment to maintaining a safe working environment\\n\\nUnderstanding of risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems\\n\\nWillingness to support audits and compliance activities\\n\\nWorking Environment\\n\\nBased within a large, live operational estate\\n\\nExposure to plant rooms, laboratories, and occupied buildings\\n\\nSome flexibility required to support operational needs
