We're looking for an experienced LEV Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business delivering complex projects across the UK nuclear sector. This is an opportunity to work on technically demanding, safety-critical projects where your designs genuinely matter and where "that'll probably do" isn't an acceptable engineering philosophy.
What you'll be doing
- You'll be responsible for designing and developing Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems across major nuclear projects, including:
- Designing LEV and specialist ventilation systems
- Producing calculations, specifications and technical reports
- Designing extraction hoods, ductwork, fans and filtration systems
- Undertaking airflow and pressure-drop calculations
- Developing designs from concept through detailed design and delivery
- Working alongside mechanical, electrical, process and structural engineers
- Supporting commissioning, testing and troubleshooting
- Participating in design reviews and technical meetings
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, legislation and client requirements
- Supporting safety-critical engineering assessments

What we're looking for
- Proven LEV design experience
- Mechanical engineering background
- Strong knowledge of ventilation and extraction systems
- Experience with ductwork, fans, filtration and airflow calculations
- Ability to produce engineering calculations and technical documentation
- Understanding of COSHH and LEV principles
- Experience working within nuclear, industrial, pharmaceutical, chemical, defence or another regulated environment
- Strong multidisciplinary engineering skills
- P601/P602 or other recognised LEV qualifications would be highly desirable.
- Nuclear experience is advantageous, but we're happy to consider engineers from other safety-critical or highly regulated sectors.
