The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Site Supervisor to join a well-established and growing M&E building services contractor based in Leeds.

The business has been established for over 30 years and has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical engineering, design and installation services across the commercial, industrial, retail, leisure, private and public sectors.

With a strong pipeline of work and several exciting projects upcoming, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Site Supervisor to join a professional and forward-thinking business with a long-standing reputation for quality, professionalism and successful project delivery.

The company currently has two upcoming projects in Sheffield and a further project in Leeds , providing excellent long-term stability and the opportunity to work on substantial M&E schemes.

The Role

As a Mechanical Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing mechanical installation works on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.

You will work closely with the Mechanical Project Manager, Contracts Manager, subcontractors, engineers and the wider project team to coordinate the mechanical works from installation through to testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation works on site.
  • Manage mechanical subcontractors, engineers and site operatives.
  • Ensure works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and programmes.
  • Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, structural and other trades.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
  • Monitor daily progress and report any issues or delays to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure installations are completed to the required quality standards.
  • Coordinate materials, labour and site resources to maintain programme.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, site management and the wider project team.
  • Attend site meetings and progress meetings where required.
  • Assist with resolving technical and coordination issues on site.
  • Monitor workmanship and ensure installations comply with relevant standards and project requirements.
  • Support testing, commissioning and handover activities.
  • Ensure all site activities are carried out safely and in accordance with RAMS and company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and documentation.
  • Assist the Project Manager with programme planning and delivery.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to mechanical site teams.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have

  • Previous experience as a

Mechanical Site Supervisor or Mechanical Supervisor within an M&E/building services contractor.

  • Strong mechanical building services knowledge.
  • Experience supervising mechanical installations on commercial, industrial, residential or public-sector projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, heating, ventilation, pipework, plumbing and associated mechanical services.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and site teams.
  • Strong understanding of construction programmes and site coordination.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems on site.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, RAMS and site procedures.
  • Relevant mechanical qualification or trade background would be advantageous.
  • SMSTS / SSSTS and relevant site qualifications would be beneficial.
