Graduate / Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer Location: Leeds Employment: Permanent, Full-Time Hours: 40 hours per week Salary: £25,000 - £40,000 The Opportunity We are recruiting for a Graduate / Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join an established Building Services Consultancy based in Leeds. This role would suit either a Graduate Electrical Engineer or an Apprenticeship-trained Electrician looking to move into a professional electrical building services design environment. You will have the opportunity to build on your existing electrical services knowledge, work alongside an experienced design team and receive full support with your professional development. The Role The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Electrical Design Engineers on a wide range of projects across various sectors, delivering building services designs from feasibility through to detailed and fully coordinated design for installation purposes, across RIBA Stages 0-5. The primary focus will be the design of electrical building services, including: LV distribution Lighting Small power Fire and security systems Training and support will be provided on design software including Amtech and Relux, alongside Revit and AutoCAD. You will work closely with Electrical and Mechanical Design Engineers and Revit Technicians as part of a multi-disciplinary team, producing detailed and sustainable building services designs in both 2D and 3D environments. Key Responsibilities Design, size and select electrical systems using relevant calculation software Incorporate sustainable technologies into electrical designs Produce 3D models, drawings, specifications and reports Prepare load calculations and support utility connection applications Coordinate designs with other disciplines Work to relevant industry guidance, British Standards and Building Regulations Attend client, design team and project meetings Undertake feasibility studies and site surveys About You The ideal candidate will have: A degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent, or An apprenticeship-trained electrician with relevant City & Guilds qualifications Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook A willingness and ability to learn design software including Amtech, Relux, Revit and AutoCAD An interest in developing a long-term career within Building Services Personal Qualities Keen to learn and develop Confident asking questions and seeking guidance Good time management and organisational skills Strong attention to detail Able to work independently and as part of a team Flexible and reliable approach Good communication skills Hard-working and professional attitude Training & Development Full training and mentoring will be provided by experienced Design Engineers, with further education support available where required, including: HNC HND Degree-level study IET professional membership CIBSE professional membership This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their technical skills and build a long-term career in Electrical Building Services Design.
