Our client is an established specialist supplier to the engineering, construction and trade sectors, based in Birmingham. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Internal Salesperson to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys telephone-based sales, customer interaction and problem solving, and who has an interest in engineering, construction, trade or DIY products.
Benefits:
- £29,000 - £30,000 salary, depending on experience
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Paid Saturday overtime on a rota basis - Trade Counter
- Company pension scheme following successful 6-month probationary period
- 20 days annual leave + 3 additional days reserved for Christmas
- Free on-site parking
- Birmingham location, approximately 1.5 miles from the city centre
- Located outside the Clean Air Zone

The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- You will be responsible for handling customer enquiries and supporting customers from initial enquiry through to quotation and order
- Handling incoming telephone calls and email sales enquiries
- Preparing quotations and processing orders
- Providing customers with product advice and practical solutions
- Following up quotations and maximising sales opportunities
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
- Managing and developing larger customer accounts
- Promoting new products and special offers
- Supporting occasional trade counter sales
- Working closely with the wider team to deliver excellent customer service
Skills/Experience required:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in internal sales or sales administration in a customer-focused environment, ideally within an engineering, construction or trade-related sector. Experience within the fastener/fixings industry would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Candidates with experience in related industries such as:
- Engineers Merchants
- Builders Merchants
- Hand Tools
- Industrial Supplies
- Hardware
- DIY / Trade Retail
are also encouraged to apply.
You will be confident speaking with customers, commercially aware and able to understand their requirements and recommend suitable solutions. A genuine interest in technical or trade products would be highly beneficial.
