M&E Estimator – Retail Construction Location: Leeds (office-based, with occasional site visits) Salary: £45,000 + package Type: Permanent, Full-Time Optio Resourcing is working with a well-established turnkey construction contractor to recruit an M&E Estimator for their Leeds office. About the Business Our client manages construction and refurbishment projects from start to finish for major UK retailers. They offer a complete in-house service covering design, construction, M&E and refrigeration. That lets them give clients a single point of contact and tight control over programme and cost. Their mission is to cut the waste of traditional contracting and make retail construction more sustainable. Refrigeration and Net Zero solutions are a core part of their offering. They run from three UK offices and back people's development, including supporting women in construction. The Role * Pricing mechanical and electrical packages for retail new builds, extensions, refits and refurbishments * Producing accurate estimates from drawings, specifications and site surveys * Measuring and quantifying M&E works, including HVAC, power, lighting, small power, containment, fire alarms and controls * Getting and comparing subcontractor and supplier quotations * Working alongside the in-house design, refrigeration and construction teams to put together full tender submissions * Identifying value engineering opportunities and energy-efficient, low-carbon options * Handing over successful tenders to the delivery team * Attending site surveys and pre-tender meetings when needed About You * Proven experience as an M&E Estimator, ideally with a contractor * An electrical or mechanical background, either trade or technical * Experience in retail or commercial projects is highly desirable * Knowledge of refrigeration or working on live trading environments is a bonus * Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and confident with Excel.
