Key Duties
- Lead the development and verification of vessel or offshore structure designs, including hull form, hydrostatics, stability, structural strength, and hydrodynamic performance.
- Perform global and local strength analyses, fatigue and ultimate limit state assessments, and support detailed design activities using relevant software and industry codes.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable class, flag state, and international regulations (e.g., IMO, ISO, API, DNV, ABS, LR).
- Identify the scope of work required.
- Input to project plans and schedules.
- Identify areas of concern during any project or study.
- Produce cost-effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to address operational and maintenance issues in the design and liaise with colleagues for the best solution.
About You
- Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ideally Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards chartership.
- Experience / competence: Strong understanding of hydrodynamics, structures, stability, and marine systems integration.
- Experience in Structural Analysis techniques - beam modelling.
- Proficient with design and analysis tools (e.g., Rhino, GHS, Orca3D, ABAQUS, ANSYS, NAPA, or similar).
- High levels of proficiency in SESAM analysis packages - hydroD, Wadam, Submod, etc.
- High levels of proficiency in structural hull plate modelling using GeniE.
