Are you a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in robotics and automation? We are working with a well-established engineering manufacturer based in Northampton that is investing heavily in automation and advanced manufacturing. They are looking to appoint a Manufacturing Engineer who can support the development, improvement and optimisation of automated manufacturing processes across the plant.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work closely with production, maintenance and engineering teams to improve process capability, support robotic welding systems and drive continuous improvement across the facility.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting and improving robotic welding cells and automated production equipment
  • Developing and controlling manufacturing process documentation including PFMEA, Control Plans and Process Instructions
  • Investigating and resolving production issues using structured problem-solving tools such as 5 Why and DMAIC
  • Identifying and implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Supporting the introduction of new equipment, processes and automation technologies
  • Analysing production data and KPIs to drive improvements in efficiency and quality
  • Supporting tooling, jigs and fixture design where required

We are looking for someone with:

  • A degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer within an industrial production environment
  • Experience with automation, robotics or automated manufacturing systems
  • Exposure to robotic welding systems would be highly beneficial
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving techniques
  • Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD or Creo
  • Exposure to PLC controlled manufacturing equipment would be advantageous
