Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of efficiency and cleanliness in the entire home, especially the designated cleaning area.
- Follow an organised cleaning schedule and work in other areas as requested by the Home Manager.
- Maintain residents’ and patients’ confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and choice.
- Respect residents’ and patients’ personal belongings.
- Keep plants watered and flowers attended to.
- Ensure daily/weekly areas are cleaned; report any omissions to the Home Manager/Nurse in charge.
- Thoroughly clean vacant rooms immediately upon vacancy.
- Report breakages, broken furniture, faulty equipment, repairs, replacements, accidents, incidents, and near misses in the Maintenance book.
- Update the Home Manager on décor deficits.
- Attend staff meetings and required training organised by the Home Manager.
- Health and Safety
- Follow the Home’s Health and Safety Policy and ensure compliance.
- Take appropriate precautions for cross‑infection.
- Wear suitable personal protective equipment if required by COSHH guidelines.
- Display safety signs when necessary (e. g., wet floors).
- Maintain equipment in clean, working order and report faults.
- Adhere to the Home’s Fire Safety, COSHH, and Moving and Handling policies.
- Perform any other duties deemed reasonable by the Home Manager.

- No experience necessary.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous domestic experience (work or voluntary).
- Experience working within a nursing home environment.
