About The Role

Abbeycare is a trusted and compassionate provider of health and social care services. We support individuals in their own homes, assisting those with a variety of health needs, including learning disabilities, mental health needs, physical disabilities, and individuals requiring personal care.

We are currently seeking dedicated Waking Night Support Workers to join our team and help ensure the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of the individuals we support throughout the night.

Role Overview

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing overnight support, ensuring individuals feel safe, secure, and supported during night‑time hours. You will remain awake and alert throughout your shift, carrying out regular checks, responding to needs, and maintaining a calm and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing overnight supervision and support to ensure individuals’ safety and wellbeing
  • Conducting regular welfare checks and responding promptly to any needs or concerns
  • Supporting with personal care where required during the night
  • Administering medication in line with company policies and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate records, including incident reports and night logs
  • Ensuring the home environment remains clean, safe, and secure
  • Supporting individuals who may wake during the night and require reassurance or assistance
  • Promoting dignity, respect, and independence at all times
  • Reporting any concerns or changes to the Service Manager and wider team

Role Details

  • Role Type: Part Time and Full Time – We request that you have the ability to work a minimum of 24 hours per week.
  • Hours: 10‑12 hour waking night shifts
  • Availability: Monday to Sunday (including weekends)
  • Shift Pattern: Waking Nights only
  • Location: Sheffield (predominantly S13 and S35 areas)

What You’ll Bring

  • A caring and compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to support others
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm and professional at night
  • Experience in a support or care setting (preferred)
  • Understanding of person‑centred care principles
  • Ability to work independently and remain alert during night shifts
  • Flexibility to work across the week, including weekends
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) – desirable
  • Full UK driving licence – essential
