The Role
As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will play a key role in supporting individuals with complex behavioural needs and behaviours of concern within supported living services in Rotherham. You will work closely with the registered manager, service manager, support staff, and multi-disciplinary professionals to develop and implement robust PBS strategies that reduce behaviours of concern, improve quality of life, and support long-term stability. This role combines clinical assessment, staff coaching, behavioural analysis, and service development, ensuring teams are confident and skilled in supporting individuals with complex emotional, behavioural, and psychological needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct functional behaviour assessments to understand the underlying causes of behaviours of concern.
- Develop, implement, and review Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) tailored to individuals with complex behavioural needs.
- Support services to safely manage challenging behaviour, distress behaviours, and self-injurious behaviour using proactive and preventative strategies.
- Lead on the reduction of restrictive practices, ensuring alignment with Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) principles.
- Design and implement behaviour monitoring and data collection systems to evaluate intervention effectiveness.
- Provide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and reflective practice sessions with support teams.
- Deliver training to staff on PBS, trauma-informed care, de-escalation techniques, and behaviour management strategies.
- Facilitate team meetings and practice reviews to promote continuous learning and improvement.
- Contribute to risk assessments, safeguarding responses, and behavioural risk management plans.
- Work collaboratively with families, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality audits and service improvement initiatives.
- Promote person-centred, rights-based approaches that uphold dignity, inclusion, and autonomy.

Essential
- MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis or Positive Behaviour Support.
- Accreditation with UK-SBA or BCBA.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge services.
- Strong understanding of Positive Behaviour Support frameworks and behavioural analysis.
- Experience coaching and developing staff working in complex care or supported living environments.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable
- Experience working within supported living or specialist complex care services.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and restrictive practice reduction.
