The Role

As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life of the individuals we support through proactive behavioural strategies and collaborative planning. You will provide hands-on training, mentorship, and guidance to support workers, ensuring that person-centred care is consistently delivered and that team members feel confident and capable in their roles. You will also serve as a liaison between families, external professionals, and internal teams, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct descriptive functional behaviour assessments to understand the reasons behind behaviours of concern.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) tailored to individual needs.
  • Lead on the reduction and monitoring of restrictive practices in line with the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) principles.
  • Design and implement data collection systems to evaluate and measure behavioural interventions.
  • Provide structured coaching, guidance, and feedback to support staff and promote the consistent use of PBS strategies.
  • Support services in aligning practice with person-centred values and promote the inclusion, autonomy and rights of individuals.
  • Deliver training on PBS, Active Support, and related topics to improve staff knowledge and confidence.
  • Facilitate regular cascade and team meetings to review progress, share learning, and reinforce good practice.
  • Contribute to service planning, risk assessments, and multi-disciplinary discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with families and professionals, such as clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists.
  • Maintain accurate, timely records and contribute to audit, research, and service evaluation as required.
  • Uphold safeguarding and data protection standards in all aspects of your work.

What We’re Looking For

  • Has experience in PBS, psychology, education, or health & social care.
  • Is passionate about improving lives and reducing behaviours of concern.
  • Has excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Is confident working independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Is values-driven and committed to promoting dignity, respect, and inclusion.
  • Has an MSc in applied behaviour analysis or positive behaviour support and is accredited by the UK-SBA or BCBA (essential).
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to their own vehicle (essential).
