About the role
As a Metering Installations Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of delivering high‑quality sub‑metering solutions across a wide range of commercial and industrial sites. Your work will directly support building compliance, carbon reduction, energy data visibility, tenant billing, and operational efficiency – all vital to our mission of helping clients on their journey to net zero. From carrying out site surveys and installing CT Sub‑Meters, cabling, and containment, through to commissioning and post‑installation support, this is a hands‑on role with real impact. You’ll be the face of Optimised on client sites, ensuring professional, safe, and compliant installations that our clients can rely on.
Job Requirements
- Recognised UK Level 3 Electrical Apprenticeship or JIB Gold Card (or equivalent)
- 18th Edition (BS7671:2018) Wiring Regulations
- Experience with installing CT Sub‑Metering on three‑phase supplies
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety practices and valid certification
- Ability to work confidently with electrical infrastructure and Sub‑Metering systems
- Familiarity with M‑Bus, Modbus, or other communications protocols (desirable)
- Strong attention to detail skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships both digitally and in person
- High IT literacy skills

Job Responsibilities
- Carry out pre‑installation site surveys to assess electrical infrastructure and metering requirements.
- Install CT Sub‑Meters, data loggers, cabling, and containment in line with company standards, wiring regulations, and best practice.
- Connect Sub‑Meters to data collection systems via protocols such as M‑Bus, Modbus, TCP/IP, or LoRa.
- Collaborate with the Support Desk and Applications team to support commissioning, troubleshoot issues, and validate data flows.
- Maintain accurate records, update internal systems, and capture evidence of completed installations.
- Engage directly with clients on‑site, ensuring professional communication and safe working practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, mentoring colleagues, and keeping up to date with new technologies and regulations.
