We’re looking for a commercially driven Business Development Manager to accelerate growth across our Utility Management division. Following continued growth across our energy and sustainability services, we’re investing further in our commercial team to support increasing market demand.

This is a high-impact role for someone who knows the energy and utilities space, enjoys building relationships at senior level, and thrives on turning opportunities into long-term partnerships. If you’re motivated by winning new business, influencing strategic conversations and working for a company genuinely driving the transition to net zero, we’d love to hear from you.

Why join Optimised? We’re not just another consultancy. As a certified B Corp, we combine commercial performance with genuine environmental impact - helping organisations reduce energy consumption, control utility spend and accelerate decarbonisation. With offices across the UK, this is an exciting opportunity to join a business with strong momentum, ambitious plans and a clear purpose.

Our solutions span:

We work closely with clients to deliver measurable operational and financial outcomes - not just reports and recommendations.

This is a consultative sales role focused on winning new Utility Management clients across the UK. This role can be performed from home with some attendance at the local Optimised office and travel to potential client sites and events as required. Reporting to the Head of New Business, you’ll take ownership of the full sales lifecycle - from identifying and developing opportunities through to negotiation, close and handover into delivery.

You’ll have the autonomy to build relationships, shape opportunities and influence commercial growth, supported by a dedicated new business, business generation and marketing team. You’ll engage with senior stakeholders across finance, procurement, sustainability and operations, helping organisations improve how they manage energy, cost and carbon.

This role suits someone who:

  • understands the energy and utility management landscape
  • can build credibility quickly with senior decision-makers
  • enjoys developing strategic relationships
  • is commercially sharp and target-driven
  • wants to be part of a business making a genuine difference

Requirements:

  • Proven B2B sales experience within energy, utilities, sustainability or related consultancy sectors
  • Strong track record of securing new business and consistently delivering against targets
  • Experience managing complex consultative sales cycles
  • Strong understanding of utility management, energy procurement, cost management or sustainability drivers
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders confidently
  • Commercially minded with strong proposal and solution development capability
  • Highly driven, commercially focused and motivated by delivering results
  • A genuine passion for sustainability and helping organisations transition towards net zero
