The Opportunity: We are looking for a Small Works Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of small operational projects across the Energy Management division, acting as a key link between the Energy Analysis, Systems and Delivery teams. The role is responsible for coordinating, tracking and supporting projects from identification through to completion, ensuring operational actions, remedial works, investigations and system improvements are delivered efficiently and communicated effectively to stakeholders.

Job responsibilities:

  • You’ll coordinate and support the delivery of small operational projects from identification through to completion, helping to ensure works are planned, scheduled and delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • This includes maintaining accurate project records, monitoring progress and costs, supporting quotations and remedial works, coordinating engineers, subcontractors and stakeholders, and keeping customers and internal teams informed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • You’ll also help ensure the right documentation, access arrangements, permits and safety requirements are in place, while contributing to a strong Health & Safety culture across all activities.
  • Alongside project coordination, you’ll support fault finding, diagnostics and operational investigations across metering and energy systems, working closely with Systems Engineering and Energy Analysis teams to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • You’ll assist with troubleshooting, analysing operational data and implementing remedial actions, while developing your technical knowledge of energy infrastructure and operational delivery processes.
  • You’ll also contribute to improving systems, processes and ways of working, helping to drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement across the division.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, engineers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate operational records.
  • Good analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across operational and technical teams.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and prioritise tasks within a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Comfortable working with operational systems, data and project tracking tools.
  • A proactive attitude that brings drive, energy and passion to the role.
  • Flexible, positive and committed team member who works to high standards.
  • Interest in developing technical understanding of energy systems, metering infrastructure and operational delivery.
  • Awareness of operational Health & Safety requirements within engineering, utilities or site‑based environments.
  • Understanding of the importance of RAMS, permits and safe systems of work within operational delivery.
  • UK driving licence.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
