Optimise Risk is a specialist UK consultancy with over a decade of experience in project and infrastructure risk management. We work with some of the most complex and high-profile capital programmes in the country — spanning nuclear, defence, aviation, and major infrastructure — helping our clients manage uncertainty, make better decisions, and deliver with confidence.
We're looking for an experienced Risk Manager to join our growing team. You'll work across a portfolio of major capital projects — getting stuck into the full risk lifecycle, from workshops and registers through to quantitative analysis and senior-level reporting. This is a varied, hands-on role with real scope to make an impact. You'll be embedded with client teams, working alongside project managers, planners, and commercial leads to make sure risk insight is genuinely shaping decisions — not just sitting in a register.
The role is hybrid: 2 days working from home, with the remaining 3 days split between our Warrington office and client sites. Some travel to client locations will be required as part of the role.
What will you be doing?
- Leading and facilitating risk workshops with project teams and senior stakeholders
- Maintaining and developing risk registers across a range of complex capital programmes
- Performing qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, including Monte Carlo simulation for schedule and cost
- Producing clear, well-structured risk reports and dashboards for project teams and leadership
- Advising clients on risk responses, mitigation strategies, and contingency planning
- Helping embed best-practice risk processes and tools within client organisations
- Contributing to the development of Optimise's own frameworks, methods, and training materials
- Building strong working relationships with project managers, planners, commercial teams, and external partners
What we are looking for?
Essential
- Solid experience in project risk management on major capital or infrastructure projects — covering identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring
- Proficiency with quantitative risk analysis techniques, including Monte Carlo simulation for cost and schedule
- Confident facilitator — able to run risk workshops with multidisciplinary teams and get the best out of stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex risk data into clear, practical insights
- Excellent written and verbal communication — comfortable producing reports and presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working in or with highly regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, aviation, or major infrastructure
Desirable
- Experience with Safran Risk or similar specialist risk tools
- APM, IRM, or equivalent professional membership or qualification
- Experience working within a P3O environment
What We Offer
We want people to enjoy working here and feel genuinely supported. Here's what you can expect:
- Salary of £48,265
- Hybrid working — 2 days from home, 3 days split between Warrington office and client sites
- Bonus scheme
- Protected time for CPD — we take professional development seriously and make sure you have the space for it
- Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) — confidential support for life's challenges, whenever you need it
- Discount vouchers and retail perks
- Your birthday off — because it should be yours
- The chance to work on some of the UK's most complex and high-profile capital programmes
- A close-knit, expert team where your contribution is genuinely valued
