Optime Group are proud to be recruiting a Security General Manager to lead the security operation at Belfast International Airport, Northern Ireland’s busiest airport and a critical gateway for domestic and international travel. This is a senior, accountable leadership position with full responsibility for the day-to-day and strategic delivery of airport security services across the BFS campus. You will lead a large, diverse workforce in a fast-paced environment shaped by seasonal peaks, early-morning departures, and operational resilience requirements. The role requires a visible, credible leader who understands the unique operational rhythms of Belfast International Airport, balancing passenger experience with uncompromising security and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall accountability for aviation security delivery at Belfast International Airport
- Lead and develop a multi-tier management structure and large frontline security workforce
- Ensure full compliance with DfT, CAA, NASP and airport-specific security requirements
- Own operational KPIs including security throughput, queue performance, audit outcomes and customer satisfaction
- Act as the senior on-site representative with airport leadership, airlines, regulators and key stakeholders
- Drive operational readiness for early-wave departures, seasonal demand and disruption events
- Maintain strong commercial control, including cost management, productivity and contract performance
- Embed a strong safety-first, people-led culture aligned to aviation best practice
- Oversee recruitment, training, accreditation and succession planning for the security operation
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role within aviation security
- Strong working knowledge of UK aviation security regulations and audit frameworks
- Demonstrable experience managing large operational teams
- Confident engaging at executive level
- Commercially aware with the ability to balance performance, cost and service delivery
- Resilient, calm leader comfortable operating in a high-pressure, high-visibility airport environment
