Are you interested in a career in the aviation sector? Optime are looking for Security Officers to join a prestigious client at Birmingham Airport. This role is open to applicants who have no previous security experience and a genuine interest in aviation, customer service and security.
All necessary training will be fully paid and provided by sector experts including support in obtaining relevant background checks. There is on-site mentoring and clear career pathways leading to specialist management roles within our team, so think big!

What’s on offer
- £12.64 per hour
- Location: Birmingham Airport
- Full Time Position – You must be able to do 40+ hours per week.
- Shift times: This is a 24-hour operation, so you will be asked to do both day and night shifts! These will be 12 hour shifts.
- Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off.
- You must be available to complete 4 weeks of training from above start date (the training is paid for the 4 weeks)

What you’ll be doing
- To control access into restricted areas of the Airport including: Checking security ID, and physical searches: Body, bags, and vehicles to a minimum of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standards of all persons and articles carried, requiring access through the Security Checkpoints.
- To carry out x ray duties of all items entering the restricted area.
- Respond to emergency incidents following the agreed procedures.
- To carry out escort duties, including special events when required.
- To undertake foot patrols of operational areas and designated routes. This will include vehicle searches.
- To maintain a log of all incidents and provide written and verbal reports to the Security Managers and Security Supervision.
- To be compliant with Aviation Security’s local operating procedures, working practices, and protocols.
- To undertake Mandatory Training as stipulated by the company, in compliance with CAA standards.
- To meet compliance and throughput targets as stipulated by DfT, CAA, and the Security Management Team.
- To participate in a culture of continual improvement by fully participating in the success of the business and own self-development.
- To utilize equipment only as trained in how to do so.
- To achieve an acceptable level of competence which is continuously measured through relevant performance evaluation means.
- To consistently demonstrate the positive behaviours required to support the Company\’s Brand Values.
The ideal candidate
- Can you pass a colour vision test?
- Have you been in the UK for 3 years?
- Must have a 5-year checkable history Are you smart in appearance?
- Do you have good Verbal and written communication skills?
- Do you have the ability to work on your own initiative and also within a team?
- Do you possess basic computer skills to operate certain equipment?
- Do you have the ability to communicate with people at all levels including outside agencies and authorities.
Please note
As this is an airport role, successful candidates must pass security checks in line with CAA regulations. These checks include 5-year work and address history, DBS (must have no disqualifying criminal convictions), valid Right to Work.
