JOB FUNCTION:
To support and improve production efficiency through proactive and reactive maintenance of electrical systems and associated equipment. The role involves fault diagnosis, repair, installation, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and achieve high reliability and safety across plant operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planned Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) as scheduled and agreed with departmental managers. Maintain accurate records of PM tasks and assist in managing spare parts inventory.
- Reactive Maintenance: Prioritise and carry out emergency repairs to minimize downtime across production equipment. Diagnose faults in electrical systems, including PLC's, motors, sensors and control panels.
- General Maintenance: Undertake general electrical tasks throughout the factory and office areas. Provide support for the mechanical maintenance team, including fitting and strip down of equipment. Assist with routine testing to ensure factory and office electrical safety compliance.
- Improvement and Project Work: Support engineering projects aimed at enhancing plant reliability, efficiency and safety. Recommend and help implement continuous improvement activities within the department.
HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT:
Always follow safe working practices and comply with current legislation and company policy. Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the department and work areas. Ensure environmental controls and procedures are upheld in line with legislation and internal standards.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work outside of normal hours during shutdowns, holidays, or in emergency situations in line with company call-out policies.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications Skills & Competencies:
- GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Math's, English and Science.
- HNC/HND in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent vocational qualification.
- City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
Skills & Competencies Experience:
- Electrical fault finding and root cause analysis.
- Reading and interpreting electrical and engineering drawings.
- Experience working with PLC's, sensors, drives, motors, and safety systems.
- Basic mechanical skills (e.g. fitting, welding, fabrication).
- Strong planning, organization, and communication skills.
- Proactive, team-oriented and committed to high standards of work.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.
- Competence in both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.
