About Optimas International

Optimas International is a global specialist in engineering and industrial distribution, providing fastener distribution and supply chain solutions to manufacturers across the UK, Europe, India and South East Asia, and China. We are entering a period of focused growth, built around six priority global verticals, our existing customer base in each country, and a programme of acquisitions.

Our central marketing function is organised to generate leads, control the sales pipeline and support regional sales teams to win. The Communications and Brand team builds the content, collateral and brand standards the rest of the function relies on, and keeps colleagues across the group informed and connected.

About the role

As Communications Executive, you will be the team's core writer and content creator. You will produce the website, digital, social and internal communications content that tells the Optimas story to customers, prospects and colleagues around the world.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced communications professional or a talented graduate looking for their first role. You will gain broad, hands‑on experience across external and internal communications in a growing international business.

Purpose

Create clear, engaging and on‑brand content across digital, social and internal channels, supporting the Communications and Brand Manager to maintain global brand messaging, generate leads through digital content, and deliver effective internal communications.

Key responsibilities

Content creation and delivery

  • Deliver the content calendar by researching, writing, editing and publishing engaging content across all relevant channels.
  • Write and update website content, including news, blogs, case studies, long‑form articles and sector pages for our priority verticals, using WordPress.
  • Write email campaign copy and digital lead‑generation content such as guides and landing page copy, working in HubSpot.
  • Interview internal subject matter experts and colleagues to develop stories that demonstrate our industry knowledge, technical expertise and customer value.
  • Research industry developments, emerging trends and relevant topics to identify opportunities for timely content, alongside topic ideas from the Pipeline & Market Intelligence team.
  • Optimise content for search engines, answer engines and AI‑driven discovery, so it reaches relevant audiences and supports contact‑form performance.
  • Gather stories, photography and interviews from colleagues, customers and sites.

Commercial alignment

  • Develop content that supports the growth strategy, building awareness and establishing our expertise in new markets and priority verticals.
  • Maintain a consistent flow of relevant content for our established industries, highlighting our capabilities, customer solutions and experience.
  • Translate technical information and complex industrial topics into clear, accessible and engaging content for commercial and non‑technical audiences.

Social media and external communications

  • Plan and maintain the social media content calendar, with a focus on LinkedIn.
  • Write posts for the company page and draft content for senior leaders.
  • Draft media commentary, press releases and articles for trade media, working with the Communications and Brand Manager.
  • Help maintain consistent messaging across the website, LinkedIn and other external channels.

Internal communications

  • Write and publish internal news stories, intranet updates and newsletters for colleagues across all regions.
  • Draft internal emails and announcements covering company news, business developments, people updates, initiatives and key milestones.
  • Support communications that strengthen employee engagement and collaboration, and build understanding of Optimas International's identity, priorities and progress.
  • Adapt tone, format and messaging to suit different internal audiences and objectives.
  • Support communications for organisational change and for businesses joining the group through acquisition.

Brand and collateral support

  • Write and proofread copy for proposals, presentations, brochures and campaign materials, working with the Senior Brand & Graphic Designer.
  • Make sure all content follows brand guidelines and a consistent tone of voice.
  • Support regional Marketing Executives with content they can adapt for local markets and events.

Planning and administration

  • Work with the Communications and Brand Manager to maintain the content calendar, track progress and make sure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate content reviews and approvals with colleagues and stakeholders through to publication and distribution.
  • Manage multiple content assignments at once, keeping stakeholders informed of progress and flagging potential delays early.
  • Incorporate feedback efficiently and manage revisions through to final approval.
  • Track and report on content, website and social performance, using insights to improve future content.

Key relationships

Reports to: Communications and Brand Manager.

Works closely with: Senior Brand & Graphic Designer, Marketing Manager and regional Marketing Executives, the Pipeline & Market Intelligence team, senior leaders, and colleagues across the group.

External: Agencies, photographers, media and website suppliers as needed.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience in a communications, content, copywriting, PR or marketing role, or a degree in a relevant field such as communications, marketing, journalism, PR or English. Graduates looking for their first role are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent written English, with strong UK‑style grammar, spelling, structure and attention to factual accuracy.
  • Ability to write for different audiences and channels, from technical B2B content to internal news.
  • Experience researching topics and turning information into compelling, accessible content.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Good working knowledge of social media, particularly LinkedIn.
  • Confident with Microsoft Office.
  • A portfolio of writing samples (graduates may include academic, student media or personal work).

Desirable

  • Experience in B2B, industrial, manufacturing or engineering sectors.
  • Familiarity with WordPress, HubSpot and email marketing platforms.
  • Understanding of SEO fundamentals and content analytics.
  • Understanding of how to write content that supports visibility in AI‑powered search and answer engines.
  • Basic design, photography or video editing skills (for example Canva, Adobe tools or mobile video).
  • Experience of internal communications or intranet platforms.

Communication requirements

  • Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
  • Confident speaking with colleagues at all levels, including senior leaders, to gather stories and agree content.
  • Able to explain technical products and services in clear, engaging language.

Personal attributes

  • A natural storyteller with a real enthusiasm for writing.
  • Curious and quick to learn about technical products, markets and customers.
  • Organised, able to manage several deadlines at once without losing quality.
  • Proactive, bringing content ideas rather than waiting to be asked.
  • Collaborative, comfortable working with colleagues across functions, levels of seniority, countries and cultures.
  • Receives feedback constructively and works with others towards agreed objectives.
  • Keen to learn, willing to ask questions and motivated to develop new skills.

Measures of success

  • Content calendars for website, social and internal channels delivered consistently and on time.
  • Growth in website traffic, search and AI visibility, social engagement and digital lead‑generation enquiries.
  • High‑quality, accurate, on‑brand content requiring minimal editing.
  • Positive feedback from colleagues on the quality and usefulness of internal communications.

Working arrangements

This role is based on‑site at our Gloucester office. Hybrid working may be considered where suitable. Minimum three days per week in the office.
