About the role
We are looking for a Housekeeping & Waste Management Operative to join our team and take ownership of housekeeping and waste management across our site.
This is a hands-on role where you will play an important part in maintaining a clean, safe, tidy and efficient working environment across our production areas, external yards and waste storage areas.
You will work largely independently, organising your day-to-day activities while responding to any priority housekeeping requirements as they arise.
The role would suit someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards, has a practical approach to their work and is confident working safely and independently.
- What you'll be doing
- Managing the day-to-day handling of site waste, including cardboard, plastics, general waste and recycling.
- Ensuring waste is correctly segregated, labelled and stored ready for collection or disposal.
- Operating waste-handling equipment such as balers and compactors safely and in line with site procedures.
- Supporting and liaising with recycling and waste contractors during scheduled collections.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across production areas, shared spaces, external yards and waste storage areas.
- Cleaning plant and equipment during agreed downtime periods and following the appropriate safe working procedures.
- Identifying and reporting hazards, spillages, damaged containers, waste contamination and other unsafe conditions.
- Moving waste and materials safely using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment.
- Reporting near misses and helping to promote a safe, tidy and environmentally responsible workplace.
- Supporting wider site cleaning and housekeeping activities where required.
- Providing additional support, including occasional additional hours, where agreed to cover holidays or operational requirements.

- Has a valid counterbalance forklift licence, or is willing and able to complete the necessary training to obtain one.
Previous experience in a housekeeping, waste management, facilities, warehouse or manufacturing environment would be useful, but we're also interested in candidates with the right practical attitude and willingness to learn
