Shift: Permanent Night Shift 39 hours per week

The Company:

A Rugby-based precision engineering specialist with decades of experience delivering high-quality machined components and engineering solutions to a range of industries. Renowned for craftsmanship, technical expertise and long-standing customer relationships, they continue to invest in both their people and manufacturing capabilities. Due to continued growth and increasing customer demand, they are looking to strengthen their night shift team with an experienced Manual Turner.

The Job Role Position:

Due to continued growth and increased workload, the company is now recruiting for an experienced Manual Turner to join their night shift operation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Setting and operating manual lathes to manufacture precision engineered components.
  • Working from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Producing one-off, small batch and bespoke components to tight tolerances.
  • Selecting appropriate tooling, speeds and feeds for a variety of materials.
  • Carrying out self-inspection using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and housekeeping.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the machine shop.

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manual turning within a precision engineering environment. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings. Experience manufacturing components to tight tolerances. Confident using a range of inspection and measuring equipment. Capable of working independently and managing workload effectively on a night shift. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.

Licence/Certification Required:

  • Engineering qualification advantageous but not essential.
  • Time-served apprenticeship preferred.
  • Full UK Driving Licence desirable.
