Shift / Hours: 4-on / 4-off rotating shift pattern - days and nights

About the Company

A well-established food manufacturing business with a modern, highly automated facility, now seeking a technically minded Technical Production Operator to join their growing production team.

The Role

As a Technical Production Operator, you will work hands-on with automated and semi-automated production machinery, ensuring lines run efficiently and resolving day-to-day technical issues.

Working on a 4-on / 4-off rotating shift pattern across days and nights, this role would suit someone who enjoys understanding how machinery works, identifying problems and getting involved with the technical side of production.

You don't need to be a qualified Maintenance Engineer, but you should be confident working with machinery and have an interest in developing your technical and automation knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor automated and semi-automated production machinery
  • Carry out first-line fault finding and resolve minor machinery breakdowns
  • Complete machine set-ups, adjustments and production line changeovers
  • Identify recurring machinery or production faults and support root cause analysis
  • Monitor line performance and help identify causes of downtime or inefficiencies
  • Make basic adjustments to machinery to maintain production
  • Escalate more complex mechanical or electrical breakdowns to the maintenance team
  • Support continuous improvement across production processes
  • Maintain strict food safety, quality and health & safety standards

Candidate Profile:

  • Previous experience operating, setting or troubleshooting production machinery
  • Technically minded with a genuine interest in machinery and automation
  • Experience carrying out basic fault finding or resolving minor machinery issues
  • Experience with machine set-ups, adjustments or line changeovers would be advantageous
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in understanding how equipment works
  • Experience within food, FMCG, automotive, packaging or another automated manufacturing environment would be beneficial but isn't essential
  • Willingness to learn and develop further technical and automation skills
  • Able to work a 4-on / 4-off rotating shift pattern across days and nights
