An opportunity has arisen for an experienced CAD Technician to join a small, two-person design studio. You will be responsible for producing accurate 2D CAD drawings and machine-ready cut files, translating sales concepts into practical designs ready for manufacture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing 2D CAD drawings and production-ready files using a CorelDRAW-based CAD system.
  • Preparing files for CNC routers, laser cutting, press brakes, printers and plotters.
  • Checking designs for manufacturability, accuracy and production efficiency.
  • Working closely with sales, directors and shopfloor teams to ensure designs meet requirements.
  • Identifying potential design or manufacturing issues and resolving queries before production.
  • Taking ownership of projects from initial drawings through to manufacture.

About You:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a CAD or drawing office role.
  • Strong 2D CAD skills, ideally gained within a manufacturing environment.
  • Signage industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Experience with sheet metal, steel fabrication, CNC routing, laser cutting or press brake processes would be beneficial.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Confident communicating with different departments and working collaboratively within a small team.
  • Proactive, organised and able to take ownership of work from start to finish.
  • Full training will be provided on the company's CAD system, so experience with alternative CAD packages will be considered.

If you have 2D CAD experience and are looking for a varied, hands-on role within a manufacturing environment, please get in touch to find out more and discuss your suitability for the position.
