A well-established specialist machine tool manufacturer is currently looking to recruit an experienced Machine Tool Applications Engineer to join their engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within an advanced engineering environment supporting high-precision CNC grinding and machining applications across global customer sites.
The Role
- As a Machine Tool Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for machine programming, setup, testing, installation, and customer support across a range of CNC grinding and machining applications.
- Understanding and writing CNC programs, mainly Siemens 840 controls.
- Grinding and machining components to engineering drawings.
- Programming and setting machines for grinding customer sample parts.
- Developing processes to optimise machine cycles.
- Installing NC standard machine cycles and operational data.
- Carrying out full functional testing of machines to internal procedures.
- Preparing machines and associated equipment for PDI and customer installation.
- Carrying out machine installations, testing, and customer training globally.
- Providing technical sales support including tooling and time studies.
- Supporting customers with aftersales technical support.
- Assisting with product improvements and development activities.
About You
- To be considered for this position, you should have:
- Previous experience programming and setting CNC machines.
- Experience with 3 to 5 axis CNC machinery.
- Siemens controls experience preferred, ideally Siemens 840D.
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and tight tolerances.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to train and support customers.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work on customer sites globally.
- Ability to work safely and follow structured health and safety procedures.
- Good organisational and reporting skills.
- Competent IT skills including office software packages.
Desirable Experience
- Grinding experience including threads, worms, and gears.
- Ability to read machine parts lists, assembly drawings, and basic electrical drawings.
