An established and highly respected aerospace manufacturer based in Leicestershire is looking to strengthen its manufacturing team with an experienced CNC Operator. The business operates within a precision-driven aerospace environment where quality, accuracy and consistency are critical. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Operator looking for a long-term position with a specialist engineering company.
The Role
As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for operating Okuma CNC machines using OSP controls, producing precision components to the required specification and quality standards. You will be working as part of an experienced production team and will be expected to maintain high levels of accuracy and output while ensuring all components meet the required aerospace standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating Okuma CNC machines with OSP controls.
- Loading and unloading components.
- Following CNC programmes, engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Making basic machine offset adjustments where required.
- Carrying out in-process inspection and dimensional checks.
- Using measuring equipment to ensure components meet specification.
- Identifying and reporting quality or machining issues.
- Maintaining production and quality records.
- Working to strict aerospace quality and traceability requirements.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Meeting production targets while maintaining high standards of quality.
About You
The key requirement for this position is genuine hands-on experience operating Okuma CNC machinery with OSP controls. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a CNC Operator within a precision engineering environment.
- Okuma and OSP experience - essential.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using inspection and measuring equipment.
- A good understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Aerospace experience would be advantageous, although strong precision engineering experience will be considered.
Shift Pattern
This is a days-based rotating shift pattern:
- 2 on / 4 off
- 3 on / 2 off
- 2 on / 5 off
- 2 on / 3 off
- 2 on / 2 off
- 3 on / 4 off
The rotation provides a significant amount of planned time off while supporting the business's continuous production requirements.
