Salary: Up to £16.00 - £18.00 per hour

Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm (Mon - Thurs), 7:30am - 12:30pm (Fri)

The Prototype Welder Role:

Due to continued growth into new sectors and expansion of their largest contracts, the company is undergoing a recruitment drive of up to 15 new engineers, assigned exclusively to Optima UK. They are looking to recruit a permanent Prototype Welder on their day shift. The position requires someone to MIG/TIG weld to a high quality and work at speed ensuring targets are met. You will be able to work to high/tight tolerances and have experience working with mild steel, based in the prototype department making one-off parts.

The Candidate:

  • Over 12 months experience as a Welder
  • Read blueprints and drawings and take measurements to plan layout and procedures
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications
  • Knowledge of using measuring equipment to quality check work
  • Fettling and grinding, sheet metal work and assembly
  • Quality check finished products
  • Record and report any issues
  • Manual handling of different tools to complete the job to the highest standards set
