Job Role: Quality Manager / SHEQ Manager
Location: Portsmouth
Shift: Monday – Friday / Permanent
Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 p/a

The Company: My client is seeking a driven and forward-thinking SHEQ Manager to take the lead on safety, health, environment, and quality the business. This is a highly visible role where you\’ll shape the SHEQ strategy, drive industry-leading standards, and make a direct impact on both the people and customers. The company specialises in precision manufacturing of gears, splines, and threads for demanding, high-profile industries.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the development and integration of our Quality Management System, aligning it with safety, health, and environmental priorities.
  • Managing day-to-day operations of the Inspection Department with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Driving accreditation processes (ISO 9000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, AS 9100)
  • Embedding SHEQ culture across the company
  • Creating tailored quality plans for projects, collaborating directly with customers to achieve outstanding results.
  • Overseeing audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Implementing engaging training initiatives to raise awareness of SHEQ requirements at every level.
  • Partnering with suppliers to maintain and improve quality standards, including performance audits and back-charging where necessary.
  • Monitoring and reporting on KPIs, quality metrics, and SHEQ performance to the Board and senior leadership.

Requirements

Essential:

  • A minimum of 5 years\’ experience in a precision engineering environment within a SHEQ/quality leadership role.
  • Strong working knowledge of accreditations such as ISO 9000, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and AS 9100.
  • HNC/HND in mechanical or manufacturing engineering (degree advantageous).
  • Proven ability to drive improvements, influence culture, and achieve measurable results.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills – with the confidence to challenge and inspire.
  • NEBOSH General Safety (or equivalent) qualification.
