About the Company
Our client is a leading engineering and manufacturing business known for delivering high-quality, bespoke solutions to a diverse customer base. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Projects team.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Projects, the Design Engineer will play a key role in producing high-quality 2D and 3D designs using SolidWorks/AutoCAD. You will be responsible for delivering accurate manufacturing drawings, managing Bills of Materials, and supporting cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless delivery of engineered products.
This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, hands-on design professional with a strong background in steel fabrication and mechanical design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed 2D/3D manufacturing drawings of systems, products, and layouts
- Create fabrication drawings for steel structures and assembly drawings complete with BOMs.
- Ensure all drawings meet high standards of quality, accuracy, continuity, and relevant directives.
- Manage and maintain all BOMs within the company's ERP system.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Sales to ensure designs meet business and customer requirements.
- Generate and issue BOMs and associated drawings as required.
- Ensure all documentation is correctly filed and company interests are protected.
About You:
- Proven experience as a Design Engineer or Draughtsman within a similar industry.
- Strong background in steelwork fabrication.
- HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD is essential.
